Triple bill of horror films. 'The Exorcism of Emily Rose' (2005) is based on true events. In an extremely rare decision, the Catholic Church officially recognised the demonic possession of a 19-year-old college freshman. The film chronicles the haunting trial of the priest accused of negligence resulting in the death of the young girl believed to be possessed. Laura Linney plays the lawyer who takes on the task of defending the priest (Tom Wilkinson) who performed the controversial exorcism. In 'The Fog' (2005), exactly one hundred years ago, off the rocky shore of an isolated Northern California town, a ship of lepers seeking refuge is betrayed by the town's founding fathers and burned, killing everyone aboard. Now the ghosts of the long-dead mariners have returned from their watery graves to exact revenge. Shrouded within a supernatural fog, the ghosts trap the residents of the remote community, intent on seeking out the descendants of those who founded the town, and killing anyone who stands in their murderous path. In 'When a Stranger Calls' (2006), Jill Johnson (Camilla Belle) has the perfect babysitting job - the parents are away, the fridge is stocked and the children are tucked into bed. But then the phone rings and an ominous voice asks, 'Have you checked the children?' Locked in with the lights out and the curtains drawn, a panicky Jill phones the police, who trace the calls, only to inform her they're coming from inside the house. And as the frightened teenager goes upstairs to check on the children, Jill's quiet night of babysitting is about to turn into a nerve-shattering nightmare of suspense, horror and dread.
