Episode 3 finds the duo on the trail of a serial killer, who likes to rip out his victims' livers using only his hands. Their concerns increase when it seems that the killer has been operating since the turn of the century. In Episode 4, Scully thinks that Mulder is in danger of losing the plot when a teenager mysteriously disappears from a lakeside campsite.
