Three-film helping of romantic comedy. 'The Guru' (2002) is a satire starring Marisa Tomei, Jimi Mistry and Heather Graham. Raimu Chandra Gupta (Mistry) arrives in New York from India with big dreams. Having been brought up on a diet of Bollywood and Hollywood, Gupta's ambition is to become a big star as a dancer but finds things tough in the Big Apple. His first job is as a waiter in an Indian restaurant but his break comes when a party entertainer falls ill and Gupta fills in. There he meets a high society student (Tomei) who rests on every word he says and introduces him to the high society of New York. However, Gupta's lack of wisdom could be exposed at any moment. In 'The Matchmaker' (1997), Marcy Tizard (Janeane Garofalo) is an election campaigner for a United States Senator, sent over to Ireland to pave the way for the Senator's upcoming visit, where he can emphasise his 'Irishness' to the voters back home. Finding herself in the middle of a small village's annual matchmaking festival, Marcy is initially scornful of the attempts by the local matchmakers to fit her up with an eligible bachelor. But when she meets handsome barman Sean (David O'Hara), her opinion might be about to change. In 'Mad About Mambo' (2000), Danny Mitchell, a Catholic high school student from West Belfast, wants to become a professional footballer. First he must perfect his balance and timing and so decides to join a dance studio. Here me meets the beautiful Lucy, a public school girl from a wealthy family, who is obsessed with dancing and only dances to win competitions. Despire that they are complete opposites, Danny still has his sights on perfecting his chances with Lucy rather than perfecting his chances of becoming a successful footballer.
