Thriller set in Ireland, based on religion and the good/evil struggle. Gabriel (Matthew MacFadyen) plays a preacher who returns to his hometown to find it's become a den of iniquity. His own sister-in-law runs a slummy drinking den that is open on the sabbath, cock fights, street brawls and gambling are nightly occurrences and Gabriel is for none of it. Considering it his personal duty to rid the place of Beelzebub and his handmaidens at once, he starts in on his own family. He soon has neighbour pitted against neighbour and the town in uproar. A dark tale about the pitfalls of fundamentalism and piety.
