Television miniseries about the great Roman consul and military leader, charting his spectacular rise to become Rome's first emperor. Jeremy Sisto stars as Caesar as he clashes with the democratic traditions of Rome, represented by Christopher Walken's Cato, wins victory on the battlefields of Gaul, and then enters into civil war with his former colleague in the city's Triumvirate, General Pompey (Chris Noth). In Egypt, as Pompey is defeated, Caesar enters into a dangerous relationship with Queen Cleopatra (Samuela Sardo) that divides opnion in Rome. Alternately struggling with his epilepsy and with the forces ranged against him in the Roman senate, Caesar is evenually murdered, assassinated by his former friends and colleagues.
