Triple bill of action thrillers starring Bruce Willis. 'Hostage' (2005) is based on the novel by Robert Crais. Haunted by his failure to save a child from a suicidal madman, hostage negotiator Jeff Tally (Willis) leaves Los Angeles to become police chief of upscale suburb Bristo Camino. But the ghosts of Tally's past come back to haunt him when two brothers and their mysterious traveling companion Mars Krupchek (Ben Foster) take a suburbanite family hostage after a failed robbery. The hostage is actually a numbers runner for West Coast kingpin Sonny Benza, and the house contains evidence that put him away. Facing heat from associates in New York, Benza kidnaps Tally's wife and daughter and blackmails him into procuring the incriminating evidence. But the situation escalates even further when Tally discovers that Mars is a serial killer who is eyeing the hostages, and possibly his accomplices, to be his next victims. In 'Lucky Number Slevin' (2006), a case of mistaken identity lands Slevin (Josh Hartnett) in the middle of a war being plotted by two of the city's most rival crime bosses, The Rabbi (Ben Kingsley) and The Boss (Morgan Freeman). Slevin is under constant surveillance by relentless Detective Brikowski (Stanley Tucci) as well as the infamous assassin Goodkat (Willis) and finds himself having to hatch his own ingenious plot to get them before they get him. In 'Last Man Standing' (1996), stranger in town John Smith (Willis) becomes caught up in the gang warfare that already exists between bosses Doyle and Strozzi. Smith works first for one gang, then the other, as he becomes smitten by Doyle's woman Felina. Only barman Joe Monday seems to be on Smith's side. Hollywood action director Walter Hill pays homage to Italian auteur Sergio Leone with this spaghetti western pastiche.
