Off-beat crime thriller starring Joaquin Phoenix. Clay (Phoenix) witnesses his best friend kill himself after he finds out that Clay was having an affair with his wife. When Clay tries to reject the wife after this, she proves to be very difficult to get rid of - until Clay befriends demented killer Lester Long (Vince Vaughn), who murders the woman as a favour to him. After a series of bizarre misunderstandings, Clay finds himself in the frame as the killer, and has to go on the run to track down Lester and prove that he's the one responsible for all the murders around town.
