Kenneth More stars in this adaptation of the classic Jules Verne adventure story. When Professor Lidenbrock (More) discovers an ancient map to the centre of the earth, he sets off with his niece Glauben (Ivonne Sentis) and her fiancé Axel (Pep Munné) to Iceland, where they find a hidden entrance in an inactive volcano. As they travel further into the bowels of the earth, the intrepid explorers meet a mysterious character who offers to be their guide, and they discover marvellous sights such as an underground sea, a forest of gigantic mushrooms, and even prehistoric creatures. But who is the man leading them further towards the earth's core, and what does he really want?
