Nine classic horror films starring Boris Karloff, Christopher Lee, Vincent Price and Jack Nicholson, among others. In 'The Corpse Vanishes' (1942), Bela Lugosi plays a deranged scientist who kidnaps newlywed brides and drains their glandular fluids in order to rejuvenate his ageing wife. In 'Horror Hotel' (1960, also known as 'City of the Dead'), a young college student is sent by her professor (Lee) to write a research paper on the history of witchcraft in a sinister New England town. What she finds is a thriving coven of occultists in league with the professor, a coven that still practises human sacrifice. In 'The Terror' (1963), Jack Nicholson stars as Lieutenant Duvalier, a young officer in Napoleon's army, who pursues the beautiful and mysterious Helene (Sandra Knight) to the castle of the elderly Baron Von Leppe (Karloff). There he discovers that Helene is the pawn of an old witch bent on driving the Baron to suicide. Trapped in the ancient and eerie castle, he struggles to makes sense of the increasingly chilling situation in which he finds himself. Directed by Roger Corman, 'Bucket of Blood' (1959) stars Dick Miller as a coffee-bar waiter who receives acclaim as an artist for his amazing true-to-life sculptures. Little do his admirers know that he only achieves his realistic effects by murdering his models and covering them in clay. In 'The Ghoul' (1934), an eminent Egyptologist (Karloff) instructs his servant to bury him with a precious stone that will bring him eternal life. But when the stone is stolen from his body, the corpse rises in search of bloody revenge. 'The Little Shop of Horrors' (1960) is Corman's cult horror comedy, in which a shy young florist bites off more than he can chew when he nurtures a maneating plant from outer space. Nicholson made his film debut as a masochistic dental patient. 'The Bat' (1959) stars Vincent Price as a guest at a famous mystery writer's house party, where a strange criminal known as the Bat was responsible for some grizzly murders some years ago. In 'Bride of the Monster' (1955), cult horror filmmaker Ed Wood directs Lugosi as Dr Vornoff, a mad scientist on a quest to create a new race of atomic people to conquer the world. However, his experiments succeed only in killing his subjects. He proposes to use a beautiful newspaper reporter, Janet Lawton (Loretta King), but is himself experimented upon by his giant mute assistant, Lobo (Tor Johnson). Vornoff becomes immensely strong, able to resist police bullets, and is killed only after falling prey to a giant octopus.
