Triple bill of films produced by Jerry Bruckheimer. In 'The Rock' (1996), directed by Michael Bay, the safety of San Francisco hangs in the balance when General Francis X. Hummel (Ed Harris) and his renegade squad of US Marines take over the abandoned Alcatraz prison and threaten to launch a poison gas attack on the city if their demands are not met. The FBI's response is to call in Stanley Goodspeed (Nicolas Cage), a nerdy weapons expert, and John Patrick Mason (Sean Connery), a former SAS man who has been in prison for the last 30 years, and send them together into the prison complex. Can this unlikely pairing prevent mass murder? The free world holds its breath... In 'Bad Company' (2002), directed by Joel Schumacher, CIA agents Gaylord Oakes (Anthony Hopkins) and Kevin Pope (Chris Rock) are working undercover in Prague, attempting to infiltrate a gang of black market arms dealers and prevent a nuclear bomb from being detonated on US soil. When Kevin is killed by a gang of rival criminals, the agency tracks down his identical brother Jake (Rock again) and, in order to complete the mission, hires him to replace Kevin. But after only three days of training, will Jake be ready to take on a gang of international criminals, many of whom are eager to see him dead? Cate Blanchett stars in 'Veronica Guerin' (2003), also directed by Schumacher. The film tells the true story of a female journalist who was murdered in Dublin during the mid-1990s after the city had become controlled by a group of powerful drug lords. Fearless investigative journalist Guerin became their biggest enemy. While balancing her home life with the responsibility to tell the truth, Guerin put her life at risk - and ultimately paid the highest price in the drug barons bid for her silence. Both during her lifetime and after her death she became a national folk heroine.
