Triple-bill of classic Hollywood musicals. In 'Second Chorus' (1940) Fred Astaire and Burgess Meredith are two talented trumpet players on the brink of graduating when they meet Ellen (Paulette Goddard), a beautiful young student. They ask her to manage their band, but their collaboration ends when the boys leave college. Ellen, meanwhile, has started to manage another successful band, and so tries to use her new contacts to help the boys break into showbiz. In 'The Duke is Tops' (1938), Duke (Ralph Cooper) is a theatre impressario who gives Ethel (Lena Horne) her big break. When Ethel is seduced by Broadway though, she cuts all ties to Duke, only for Duke to step in and save the day when it all goes wrong for her. 'Private Buckaroo' (1942) is set during World War Two and follows a rebellious young conscript (Dick Foran) who is only tamed by the general's daughter (Jennifer Holt).
