Classic drama featuring Ray Milland as writer Don Birnam, whose life and career has been ruined by alcohol. Not having had a drink for 10 days, Don and his brother Wick (Philip Terry) are heading off for a weekend in the country. But having persuaded Wick to go to a concert at the Carnegie Hall, Don is desperate to find a hidden bottle in their New York apartment. He is unsuccessful, but finds some money hidden by Wick, so he sets off for Nat's Bar and is soon 'falling off the wagon'.
