Fast-talking ensemble piece set over twenty-four hours at the offices of a New York tabloid. Henry Hackett (Michael Keaton) is the metro editor of the ailing 'New York Sun', trying to hold his life together as chaos reigns in the newsroom. His pregnant wife, Martha (Marisa Tomei), is pushing him to accept a managerial job at the upmarket 'Sentinel' magazine, but meanwhile Henry is clashing with his boss, Alicia Clark (Glenn Close), over how to report the racially-motivated murder of two white businessmen in Brooklyn.
