Collection of four archive documentary films looking at rail workers in the 1940s and 1950s. 'Shunter Black's Night Off' (1941) is a short film by Maxwell Munden, following railway worker Joe Black as his evening shift is interrupted by a Luftwaffe raid on his marshalling yard. 'The Railwaymen' (1946) profiles all the various skills and jobs needed to run a railway system. 'Portrait of an Engineer' (1954) follows production engineer Ted Wilson around his factory, where steam locomotives are being built for export around the world. 'British Locomotives' (1959) shows the challenges faced by manufacturers after the demise of steam around the world and the switch to diesel and electric.
