A triple bill of children's animation. 'The Bear' is adapted by the makers of 'The Snowman' from the book by Raymond Briggs. A little girl accidentally drops her teddy bear into the polar bear's pit at the zoo. That night she cries herself to sleep, only to be woken up by a polar bear who has come to return her teddy. The bear and the girl then begin a friendship which poses one big problem - how can she keep such a big bear in her house without her parents finding out? Soon however the spirit of the Great Bear calls them both on a magical adventure. 'Ivor the Invisible' sees John waking up one Satruday morning convinced that there is something very big and invisible on the end of his bed. It transpires that this invisible creature is a giant who won't let John measure it and writes the letters IVO on the mirror when asked its name. John decides to call the invisible giant Ivor and together they get up to lots of mischief, especially at John's school and in the park. Whilst in 'The Last Polar Bears' an eccentric grandfather and his dog Roo set off on a journey to the North Pole in search of the last polar bears. Setting sail on the good ship Unsinkable with a golf bag packed full of equipment, the grandfather begins to write a series of letters to his grandchild, and it is in the form of these letters that the story is told.
