Set during the 1950s, this is the story of David Greene (Brendan Fraser), a blue-collar student who wins a place at an expensive middle-class boarding school. David does well at the school, becoming a popular football hero and attracting the interest of his dream girl Sally Wheeler (Amy Locane), but everything changes when a fellow student discovers the secret he has been trying to hide - David is Jewish. Suddenly, the newcomer must confront the anti-semitism of his closest friends and learn to stand up for who he is, no matter what the consequences.
