In 1975, Beirut is split into two factions in the war between the Christian militia and the Lebanese Muslims. Teenager Tarek's parents fight over whether to stay or go, while he journeys through the ruins of the city on excursions with his friend Omar and May, a young Christian girl. Together they film the scenes of destruction on a Super-8 camera, learning much about life along the way.
