The Corps de Ballet of the Kirov Ballet perform Petipa's 'Le Corsaire' at the Kirov Theatre in Leningrad in April 1989, with Viktor Fedotov conducting The Kirov Theatre Orchestra. Three pirates, cast away on the Ionian coast during the Turkish occupation of Greece, are hidden from the authorities by a group of local Greek women. When the women are kidnapped by the slave-trader Lankedem, the pirates have to come to their rescue.
