Filmographies
Drama set in India during the late years of the 19th century. When the inhabitants of Champaner, a small northern village, complain about the extent of the tax they have to pay, the British officer in charge of the region, Captain Russell, instead orders that the tax be doubled. When they complain again, Russell proposes that the locals take on the British at cricket; if they win, the tax will be suspended for three years; if they lose, they'll have to pay even more. At first unwilling to stake so much on a single game, the villagers of Champaner soon decide to take the risk and start training for the big day.
