Chandni (Sridevi) and Rohit (Rishi Kapoor) are caught up in a whirlwind love affair and make excited plans for their future together, but then fate steps in and their happy union is ripped asunder. Luckily, Chandni then meets Lalit (Vinod Khanna), a man haunted by the loss of his first love, and again finds hope of happiness. Yet before long Rohit makes a return, and the three lovers find themselves stuck at a crossroads, each deeply in love, neither knowing which way to turn.
