Trailers
In early 1900s America, migrant labourer Bill (Richard Gere) goes on the run with younger sister Linda (Linda Manz) and soulmate Abby (Brooke Adams) after murdering his foreman. The three of them find work on the land of a wealthy wheat farmer (Sam Shepard), who lives alone and is slowly dying of a wasting disease. He begins to fall in love with Abby, and Bill - who is masquerading as her brother to improve the chance of an inheritance - encourages her to lead the farmer on. For a while the four are happy, but when Abby genuinely begins to fall for the farmer, tensions rise... Cuban director of photography Nestor Almendros received an Oscar for his work on writer and director Terence Malick's second film.
